Using Astronomy to Date Biblical Events with Scientific Accuracy
  • Investigation into Biblical events shows evidence of design

    • Scientific dating of Biblical events with astronomy reveals that human events appear to be designed or controlled by a Supreme Being.
  • Prophecies for the modern nation of Israel

    • The design begins in the 5th century B.C. and points us to the 21st century A.D.

Scientifically Dating Daniel's "Time-Oriented" Prophecy of the Seventy Weeks Reveals Design in Ancient Human Events

  • Only one prophecy in the Bible is "time oriented" (gives a specific date for its fulfillment), and its purpose was to foretell when the Messiah would appear at Jerusalem.
  • Three historic events were foretold by this prophecy of Jerusalem's future.
    • Jerusalem was to be rebuilt.
    • The Messiah would appear at Jerusalem and be "cut off." or killed as a sacrificial offering
    • Jerusalem and the temple would later be destroyed.
  • In the graph that follows, I show the result of scientifically dating these three events and the design that appears to show supernatural control of human events from 445 BC to AD 70.

General Overview of the Design Theory (Ancient History)

Daniel's "Time-Oriented" Prophecy about Jerusalem

Design Point No. 1 (in the chart above)

  • By affixing exact dates to these three events with scientific dating, and then counting the days between each event, a period of 14,000 days is uncovered from the appearing of the Messiah on April 6, AD 32, to the temple's destruction on August 5, AD 70 (On the right side of the chart above).
  • The same 14,000 days will find a perfect alignment in the 20th & 21st centuries as will be shown later.

Design Point No. 2 (in the chart above):  The Temple's Fate

  • The feasts listed above always occur in the spring time, and were fulfilled by Jesus Christ at his first coming.
  • In the autumn, three more feasts appear to be prophetic of Jesus Christ's second coming.
  • 20th century human events line up with the autumn Biblical feasts in the 21st century.  To discover "Why" and "How" continue on tot he next section.

How Can Daniel's "Time-Oriented" Prophecy Apply to the 20th & 21st Centuries?

Daniel's Prophecy

  • Daniel foretold of Jerusalem's destruction that occurred in AD 70 with these words. "The people of the ruler who will come will destroy the city and the sanctuary" (Dan 9:26).

    • Daniel's prophecy was fulfilled by the Roman General Titus who destroyed Jerusalem in AD 70.

  • Gentile nations controlled Jerusalem from AD 70 until June 7, 1967, when the Jewish people took control of ancient Jerusalem again.
Did anyone in the Bible foretell that the Jewish people would regain control of Jerusalem?
  • Jesus, like Daniel, also foretold of Jerusalem's destruction that occurred in AD 70. However, Jesus' words bring us into the 20th century since he foretold that Jerusalem would be controlled by Gentile nations until the generation in which he would return to earth
  • Consider Jesus' words about Jerusalem's future, "Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles [Beginning with the Romans on August 5, AD 70] until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled [Literally fulfilled on June 7, 1967 when Israel regained control of Jerusalem from Jordan in the Six-Day War] (Luke 21:24b).
I have charted Jesus' words from the temple's destruction in AD 70 into the 20th & 21st centuries as follows:

Design Point No. 1 (in the chart above)

  • The 14,000 days hidden in Daniel's "time-oriented" prophecy in the 1st century A.D. find a perfect fit in the 20th & 21st centuries, counted from Israeli conquest of Jerusalem in 1967 to the "Feast of Trumpets on October 4, 2005."

Design Point No. 2 (in the chart above)

  • The Feast of Trumpets has historic precedence to be prophetic of Christ's return. Throughout the New Testament, Christ's return is associated with the blowing of trumpets. The earliest reference to the "Feast of Trumpets" comes from Moses in the book of Leviticus and today is also known as Rosh Hashanah.
  • Biblical literature also supports the fact that Old Testament feasts such as the Passover and other feasts are prophetic of New Testament events as follows:
  • The feasts listed above always occur in the spring time, and were fulfilled by Christ at his first coming. In the autumn, three more feasts appear to be prophetic of Christ's second coming as follows:
  • Historic and biblical precedence of the spring time feasts support that such biblical feasts are prophetic of New Testament events which always occur on the same day of the feast. Is the phenomenon of 14,000 days aligning with the Feast of Trumpets on October 4, 2005 a coincidence or an act of God?

Conclusion:

Scientific dating Daniel's "time-oriented" prophecy shows supernatural control or design in human events. Would you like to know more about the historic person of Jesus?
