| The
Number 14,000 |
I have come to believe that the length of a generation has been
concealed in Daniel's "time-oriented" prophecy and that
this length is exactly 14,000 days. By adding 14,000 days to the
sign of the final generation (Israeli conquest of Jerusalem on June
7, 1967) referred to in Luke's gospel, we come to October 4, 2005,
which happens to be the Feast of Trumpets - symbolic of Christ's
return. So there is a parallel application of the 14,000 days
extracted from Daniel's prophecy that fits perfectly into both the
1st century and the 20th and 21st centuries.

What are the implications of the number 14,000?
|
|
The number 14,000 presents an interesting case study since it is
divisible by both 7 and 70, the foundational numbers of Daniel's
"time-oriented" prophecy of seventy weeks (70 x 7).
Moreover, I extracted the number 14,000 from Daniel's
"time-oriented" prophecy from events in the 1st century,
and we have a repeat alignment in the 20th and 21st centuries.
Let's examine the significance of the products:
70 X 200 = 14,000
and
7 X 2,000 = 14,000
I'll begin with the 70 X 200 product and the biblical meaning of
the number 200. The number 200, according to Bullinger's study of
biblical literature, signifies INSUFFICIENCY. Consider
Bullinger's words about the number 200.
The significance of 200 is suggested by John
6:7, where we read, "Two hundred
pennyworth of bread is NOT sufficient for them."
And so we find this number stamping various things with
insufficiency.
Achan's 200 shekels were "not sufficient" to save him
from the consequences of his sin (Joshua 7:21). This shows us the
insufficiency of money (Ps. 49:7-9).
Absalom's 200 shekels weight of hair were "not
sufficient" to save him, but rather caused his destruction (2
Sam. 14:26; 18:9). This shows us the insufficiency of beauty.
Micah's graven image was purchased for 200 shekels (Judge 17:4
and 18), and led to the introduction of idolatry into Israel and the
blotting out of the Tribes of Dan and Ephraim from the blessing of
Revelation chapter 7, showing us the insufficiency of mere religion.
Ezra's 200 singing men and women (Ezra 2:65), were "not
sufficient" to produce "peace with God," true
spiritual worship, or joy in the Lord. Only God's word rightly
ministered can lead to this (Neh. 8:5-9). This shows the
insufficiency of external things in the worship of God, and the
impossibility of worshipping God with the senses. True worship,
which alone God will accept, MUST be spiritual (John
4:24).(1)
Now consider the spiritual implications of the numbers 200 and
70, whose product equals 14,000. This combination yields "insufficiency
(200)" and "perfect
spiritual order carried out with all spiritual power and
significance (70)." Therefore, their product, the
number 14,000, implies judgment since there is spiritual
insufficiency in combination with spiritual order that is exercised
with great authority. The number 14,000 has implications that
describe the biblical scenario for the second coming of Christ.

| The First Century
- 14,000 Days |
|
Let's consider how the 14,000 days apply in the first century
based on my research. Scientific dating of Daniel's
"time-oriented" prophecy shows that 14,000 days passed
from the day of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on April 6,
AD 32, to the destruction of the temple on August 5, AD 70. In AD
32, Christ presented himself to the nation that rejected him.
Exactly 14,000 days later, the temple was destroyed.
Was this a coincidence or a planned act of judgment? Supporting
the idea that this was a divinely planned event is the fact that the
temple was twice destroyed on the exact same day, the 10th day of
Av, a Jewish month (Babylon in 586 BC and Rome in AD 70). Hence, the
number 14,000 surrounding Christ's first coming shows how the
atonement of the Messiah resulted in the judgment of the Old
Testament system of sacrificial services for salvation.
"When Christ appeared as a high priest of the
good things to come, He entered through the greater and more perfect
tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this
creation; and not through the blood of goats and calves, but through
His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having
obtained eternal redemption. For if the blood of goats and bulls and
the ashes of a heifer sprinkling those who have been defiled,
sanctify for the cleansing of the flesh, how much more will the
blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself
without blemish to God, cleanse your conscience from dead works to
serve the living God." (Heb.
9:11-14).
Jesus, the suffering Messiah foretold by the Old Testament, more
than fulfilled the Old Covenant between man and God. The New
Covenant of salvation through faith in the Messiah, Jesus replaced
the Old Covenant of salvation by way of the law and sacrificial
services. How fitting to find that a study of Daniel's "time
oriented" prophecy conceals 14,000 days from Jesus'
proclamation as the Messiah to the destruction of the temple.

| The Twenty-First
Century - 14,000 Days |
|
Now move forward in time to the 20th and 21st centuries to
consider how the number 14,000 fits so well into modern history.
Israeli conquest of Jerusalem on June 7, 1967 points to the Feast of
Trumpets on October 4, 2005, exactly 14,000 days later. The Feast of
Trumpets is symbolic of Christ's return. Will Christ return on this
day?
Since the number 14,000 implies judgment (spiritual
insufficiency in combination with spiritual order that is exercised
with great authority), the number 14,000 has implications that
describe the Biblical scenario for the second coming of Christ.
Consider these verses about the day of Christ's return.
"The sun will be darkened, and the moon will
not give its light, and the stars will fall from the sky, and the
powers of the heavens will be shaken, and then the sign of the Son
of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth
will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of
the sky with power and great glory." (Matt.
24:29-30).
At many places in the book of Revelation, the idea of judgment
comes forth for a world that has outright rejected Christ and his
followers.
"I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he
cried out with a loud voice, saying to all the birds which fly in
midheaven, "Come, assemble for the great supper of God; in
order that you may eat the flesh of kings and the flesh of
commanders and the flesh of mighty men and the flesh of horses and
of those on them and the flesh of all men, both free and slaves, and
small and great." And I saw the beast and the kings of the
earth and their armies, assembled to make war against Him who sat
upon the horse, and against His army. And the beast was seized, and
with him the false prophet who performed the signs in his presence,
by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast
and those who worshipped his image; these two were thrown alive into
the lake of fire which burns with brimstone. And the rest were
killed with the sword which came out of the mouth of Him who sat
upon the horse, and all the birds were filled with their flesh."
(Rev. 19:17-21).
The verses cited above show that people will be under divine judgment. They will mourn their ways and many will be destroyed at
the battle of Armageddon. Hence, at the return of Christ, people who
have rejected Christ will be eternally lost. They will be beyond
salvation as the number 14,000 implies since it epitomizes judgment.

| The Number 14,000
[7 X 2000] |
|
The number 14,000 may be obtained by multiplying 7 X 2000. In
turn, the number 2,000 may be related to the number 20 according to
Bullinger's method of analysis. What are the implications of these
numbers?
E. W. Bullinger often interprets numbers by means of addition or
multiplication. If this is true, then 20 X 100 may contain some
fascinating ideas. According to Bullinger, "twenty is the
double of ten, and may in some cases signify its concentrated
meaning. But its significance seems rather to be connected with the
fact that it is one short of twenty-one, 21 minus 1 = 20; that is to
say, if 21 is the three-fold of 7, and signifies Divine (3)
completion as regards spiritual perfection (7), then twenty, being
one short of 21 would signify expectancy. Consider these
Scriptures:
Twenty years Jacob wailed to get possession of his wives and
property (Gen. 21:38, 41). Twenty years Israel wailed for a
deliverer from Jabin's oppression (Judges 4:3). Twenty years Israel
wailed for deliverance through Samson (Judges 15:20;
16:31). Twenty
years the Ark of the Covenant waited at Kirjathjearim (1 Sam.
7:2).
Twenty years Jerusalem wailed between its capture and destruction;
and twenty years Jeremiah prophesied concerning Jerusalem's coming
destruction.(2)
If twenty signifies expectancy, the number 2000 is expectancy a
hundred-fold (20 X 100). This idea finds common support among
fundamentalist views of biblical literature. According to many
fundamentalists, the number 2,000 divides biblical history into
equal segments. Many fundamentalists believe that approximately
2,000 years passed from the fall of Adam and Eve to Abraham, that
2,000 years transpired from Abraham to Christ, and that 2,000 years
will pass from Christ's birth to His return. If this
interpretation is correct, then the number 2,000 depicts both
expectancy and order on a larger scale.
The number 14,000 based on 7 X 2,000 yields "spiritual
perfection. (7)" and "multiplied (exalted) expectancy
and order (2000)." Therefore, the number 14,000 also implies
perfect design or prophecy based on mathematics. These
calculations support the theorem of my research which states that
"Man's history has been designed."
