The Number 360
The extraction of 14,000 days at the time of Moses, the time of Jesus, and in the modern era is dependent on using the 360 days per year as a prophetic number.
What are the implications of the number 360?

The number 360 presents an interesting case study since it is based on a year of 12 months that are exactly 30 days each. The multiplication of 12 x 30 = 360. Fulfillment of the book of Revelation is based on this 360 day per year calculation.

Let's examine the significance of the product:

12 X 30 = 360

Let's consider the implications of the numbers 12 and 30.

The Number 12

The number 12 as used here as it relates to time. Therefore, we should only consider how Bullinger's study of the number 12 relates to time. The twelve signs of the zodiac are referred to by Bullinger. And the use of 360 degrees in a circle are also mentioned, which would denote the 12 x 30 = 360 that we have used to obtain the 14,000 day generation theory.

Bullinger also comments about the multiplication of 3 x 4 = 12. The number 3 (the perfectly Divine and heavenly number) is multiplied by 4 (the earthly, or what is material and organic) to obtain the number 12. At this point, Bullinger makes an interesting comment about the number 12 as, "that which can scarcely be explained in words, but which the spiritual perfection can at once appreciate"

The Bible is full of references to the number 12. For example, there are the 12 tribes of Israel, the 12 Apostles, 12 gates for the new Jerusalem, 12 pearls, 12 angels, etc...

In respect to time, Bullinger relays that Jesus was 12 years of age when his first recorded words were spoken at the temple.

The Number 30

Bullinger makes an intriguing comment about the number 30. "Thirty being 3 x 10, denotes in a higher degree the perfection of Divine order, as marking the RIGHT MOMENT."

To support this premise, Bullinger refers us to the time at which specific biblical characters began their divinely order work.

Christ was 30 years of age at the commencement of his ministry.(Luke 3:23)

Joseph, a Christ-type was aged 30. (Gen 41:46)

David was 30 years of age when he began to reign. (2 Sam 5:4)

The Number 360

E. W. Bullinger often interprets numbers by means of addition or multiplication, which may in some cases signify its concentrated meaning. Consider the following ideas as taken from Bullinger's analysis of the numbers 12 and 30:

  • the Right Moment
  • perfectly divine or divinely ordained event
  • must be related to earthly matters

A search for the number 360 in the Bible results in an interesting number. In this case, the word "ALTAR" is used 360 times in the Bible (both the Old Covenant and New Covenant). In the book of Revelation, we find that the two witnesses are foretold of giving their testimony for 42 months or 1260 days. The 1260 days are a time span of three and one-half years of 360 days per year. The same time frame is written into the book of Daniel and referred to by Jesus Christ as the time that the daily sacrifice will be stopped (Daniel 9:27, Matthew 24:15). Stopping the daily sacrifice means that sacrifices done on the ALTAR will be stopped. Therefore, we find an interesting link between the number 360 and the fact that the word "ALTAR" is used 360 times within biblical texts.

Due to the word "ALTAR" being used 360 times in the Bible, there is support that the number 360 has meaning in respect to sacrificial offerings to God. The ultimate sacrifice is that the Messiah paid for our sins on the cross. The sacrifices done on the altar at Jerusalem using animals are no longer required.

"Now Christ has appeared once for all at the end of the ages to do away with sin by the sacrifice of himself" (Hebrews 9:26). The viewpoint of the New Covenant is that the sacrifice of animals is worthless when compared to the ultimate sacrifice of Messiah. "...because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins" (Hebrews 10:4).

In addition, the number 360 appears to be related to divine ordained events on the earth that occur at the right moment. In the book of Revelation, at the right moment, the two witnesses will stop their ministry when they are martyred. Their ministry will be terminated at the end of 1,260 days, a number that is based on three and one-half times 360 days. According to the book of Revelation, they will be killed and lie dead in the streets for three and one-half days.

Since the number 360 relates to a divine plan, what is the ultimate purpose of stopping the daily sacrifice at the altar in Jerusalem?.

Based on Scripture, the divine plan is to break the back of Judaism to bring the Jewish people to the one and only true Messiah. Consider the following verses as written into the book of Daniel.

"How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?"

"The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed"
(Daniel 12:6-7).

Based on Scripture, the number 360 appears to be related to prophetic events that will occur on the earth as ordained by the Almighty. The purpose of Daniel's prophesying is to reveal exactly who is the one and only true Messiah. Based on Daniel 9:24-27, the Messiah had to die as a sacrificial offering before the temple and Jerusalem were destroyed in the year AD 70. The only historic personality who successfully meets this requirement of dying, yet remaining successful, and appearing before AD 70, is the historic personality of Jesus Christ.

The Ultimate Messianic Requirement

Daniel foretold that the Messiah would be killed as a sacrificial offering. But if Messiah must be killed to prove that he is the Messiah, how will he remain successful?

The only way that the true Messiah will remain successful is by conquering death. Jesus arose from the dead as proof of his Messianic claim. The required death of the Messiah is the event that separates the one and only true Messiah from multitudes of false messiahs that have appeared throughout recorded history.
